The winning teams of this year's edition of the regional competition I9.Açores - Young Academy of Innovative Ideas, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, completed an Entrepreneurship Mission to Porto, Aveiro and Braga on Friday, September 6.

The delegation included five teachers and seven students from the five teams ranked 1st in the different school levels in the competition, namely middle and junior high school, secondary school and vocational education, and higher education.

The mission began on Monday, September 2.

The programme combined cultural activities with visits to business incubators, meetings with entrepreneurs, experience-sharing sessions and a workshop on entrepreneurship and innovation to bring participants into contact with new business realities and stimulate their personal and professional development.

Maria João Carreiro, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, highlighted the "success of this Mission insofar as it allowed young people and teachers to have direct contact with other business realities combining innovation with entrepreneurship, making it an enriching experience from the personal and professional standpoint for participants."

"Both the Entrepreneurial Academy and the I9.Açores competition are two examples of programmes promoted by the Regional Government that add value to young people's careers," he stressed.

The regional I9.Açores competition took place on the island of Santa Maria between May 20 and 24 this year, bringing together around 90 young people from all Azorean islands.
