Regional Secretariat for Agriculture to promote training in organic farming - Communication

The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food informs that the public tender for the acquisition of services for the ‘’AÇORESBIO FORUM‘’ - 2024 and 2025 editions, aimed at farmers, agricultural workers, technicians and the general public, is currently being awarded and notified to interested parties.

In addition to meeting the requirements of the European Green Deal, this initiative meets the need to pursue the goals of the "Programme to Train Farmers and Promote Public Literacy in Sustainable Production and Consumption," which is part of "Investment C05-i05-RAA - Economic Recovery of Azorean Agriculture" under the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Portugal (RRP-Azores).

The ‘’AÇORESBIO FORUM‘’ initiative aims to organise work sessions and information actions, in a ‘’Forum‘’ format, to promote and disseminate the organic production method and follow up on the path the Region has to take in this production mode.

According to the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, "the Regional Government regards organic production as an additional opportunity to diversify the agricultural market and contribute to the self-sufficiency paradigm in the regional market."

In this context, continues António Ventura, "it is important to continue investing in measures and actions in favour of rural development and agricultural diversification and, thus, ensure the promotion of regional production."

The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food continues to define, guide and collaborate on measures and actions for the benefit of Azorean agriculture, following up on the goal set out in the Programme of the XIV Regional Government Programme "to continue the commitment to organic production."
