The Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, presided this Friday, on behalf of the President of the Regional Government, at the delivery ceremony of diplomas to the graduates of the Monsenhor João Maurício de Amaral Ferreira Vocational School in Povoação, São Miguel Island.

More than 100 young people and adults received their diplomas for completing vocational and training courses under the measures funded by the Regional Government, such as Qualifica.IN and Form.Açores.

On the occasion, Maria João Carreiro explained that the Regional Government, in partnership with Vocational Schools, is implementing a "policy aimed at promoting" a form of education that "adds value and broadens young people's horizons with undeniable benefits for the economy."

A little over two years on from the presentation of the Regional Agenda for Vocational Training, "more has already been done for Vocational Education in the Azores than in entire parliamentary terms," she noted, highlighting that "there are now more opportunities for vocational training and qualification in the Region."

"Vocational education in the regional Vocational Schools is now more visible and generates more confidence among young people and carers," she said.

The Regional Secretary offered her "best wishes" to the trainees who have completed a "demanding training programme," considering them an "example for young people and adults, both employed and unemployed, and an asset for companies."

Maria João Carreiro also praised the "perseverance and dynamics of the Monsenhor João Maurício de Amaral Ferreira Vocational School, which "has in its management and teachers its best resources to promote a training of excellence and acknowledged value."
