The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, stated today that the Corvo Island Health Unit is "one of the best the Regional Health Service has to offer," following the expansion, renovation and refurbishment work it has undergone over the past year.

With an overall investment of more than 500 thousand Euros, this work resulted in the reconfiguration of the space, namely the emergency room and medical offices, along with the modernisation of the furniture and the x-ray, physiotherapy and dental equipment. It also included the acquisition of an ultrasound scanner with several probes that allow specific tests to be carried out on the island of Corvo.

"We have mobilised our efforts to guarantee Corvo a Health Unit that makes the Regional Health Service proud," said the President of the Azorean Government.

José Manuel Bolieiro spoke during the opening ceremony of the refurbishment work of the Health Unit. He was accompanied by the Regional Secretary for Health, Mónica Seidi, and the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral.

The President of the Government also praised the Digital Hospital project, listing the new possibilities for the provision of services to users through telemedicine, which "projects this Health Unit into the modernisation and future of Health."

Compared to 2019, the Corvo Island Health Unit has doubled its human resources and now has doctors, nurses, senior technicians in the different health services and auxiliary staff.

The Regional Government began its statutory visit to Corvo this Wednesday, which ends today, meeting with the Mayor of Vila do Corvo and the Island Council, among others.
