The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, expressed his satisfaction on Wednesday with the Government's meeting with the Corvo Island Council, recalling how much has already been done on the island and assuring that more responses are underway.

The meeting with the Island Council marked the end of the first day of the Regional Government's statutory visit to Corvo.

Speaking to journalists, José Manuel Bolieiro emphasised that two topics deserved particular focus: housing and accessibility, particularly regarding the technical aspects of aircraft landing in Corvo.

In the housing sector, there have been housing acquisitions and renovations aimed at the general population and, specifically, at "specialised professionals," such as teachers relocating to Corvo.

With regard to the Dash Q200 aircraft landing on the island and the future renewal of SATA's fleet, José Manuel Bolieiro was adamant: "When renewing the fleet, the specific features of the aircraft landing in Corvo will never be overlooked."

Before the meeting with the Island Council, the Regional Government met with the Mayor of Corvo. The President of the Government recalled that there were matters that "ceased to be an agenda" due to the efforts undertaken by the Government, such as health and the supply of goods to the island.

"There are always things to be done and to be continued, and we have realised and identified some issues with a willingness for good and mutual cooperation between the Government and the local authority," he said.

The annual statutory visit to Corvo ends today with the opening of the refurbishment works of the Island Health Unit and the opening of the renovation works of public spaces and the construction of Casa da Vegia (House) - Corvo Ecomuseum.
