The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, highlighted with great satisfaction and joy the two awards the Autonomous Region of the Azores received at BTL 2024.

"We won the Best National Stand Award and the Sustainability Award at the Lisbon Travel Markey 2024 and this is no small feat, as BTL is the largest tourism event in Portugal. We are among the elite of national tourism in our own right," says Berta Cabral.

During the launch ceremony for BTL 2025, which included the award ceremony for BTL 2024, the Regional Secretary for Tourism passed on the "Guest Destination" title, highlighting the excellent participation of the Azores this year.

"The Azores are newcomers to this national tourism wave but are increasingly important in Portuguese tourism with one of the most differentiated value propositions for those visiting us. We have reached a high level and set the bar very high for ourselves and others. It is a reflection of the evolution of our strategy and now we all have a responsibility to maintain this level of performance," she said.

Berta Cabral also highlighted the work of Visit Azores, municipalities and regional companies that took part in the 2024 edition of BTL, mentioning the excellent work of the designers and creators of the Azorean stand.

"Our stand stood out among around 400 stands and this is also due to the technical and artistic merit of those who designed, set up and promoted it. They are all to be congratulated as the design and conceptualisation nearly conveyed our identity and relationship with nature and sustainability to perfection," she said.

The Regional Secretary recalled that the Region had already won the Sustainability Award in the 2023 edition, having won it again this year. This clearly demonstrates the consolidation of the positioning of Azorean tourism at a national level and the competitive recognition that the Region already deserves.

"We are extremely proud of these awards and we have set the bar very high for ourselves and others. It is a reflection of the evolution of our tourism and now we all have a responsibility to keep up this level of performance," she said.
