Regional Government available to support farmers with losses caused by bad weather

The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, António Ventura, announced today, following a request from the São Miguel Agricultural Association, that the Regional Government is available to survey the losses caused by the bad weather that has hit the archipelago in recent days, as well as to grant aid to farmers according to their losses.
The bad weather hit the island of São Miguel hardest, particularly affecting corn production. However, according to the government official, this survey will be extended to all the islands affected by the bad weather.

"The Azorean Government is always concerned about farmers’ income in all areas, but particularly in the area of agricultural diversification, as bad weather of this kind often jeopardises the entire harvest," said António Ventura.
At the request of the São Miguel Agricultural Association, the Secretariat for Agriculture and Food will swiftly and thoroughly survey the damage caused by the bad weather conditions that have occurred in recent days.
