The Azores Brand will be highlighted at the "Feel Pico" festival, which runs until Sunday, June 2, in the Lajido area, municipality of São Roque. The event is organised in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, through the Azores Brand Management and Promotion Office, and ACIP -  Pico Commercial and Industrial Association.

The partnership is based on gastronomy as a strategy to promote the best of what is produced in the Region, with special emphasis on Azores brand-certified products.

This festival is a traditional event aimed at promoting and reviving traditional memories and values of the so-called mountain island. The Lajido area will be the main venue for a programme including various activities, including two showcookings on June 1 and 2.

The first showcooking event, scheduled for June 1, will be hosted by Patrícia Cheio, a native of the Azores residing on Terceira island, a food blogger since 2010 and author of the website Food With A Meaning. This event also marks World Children's Day, challenging children and parents to prepare healthy meals based on local produce that value the seasonality of the different products.

The second showcooking event brings together Chef Renato Cunha and Chef Olavo Pereira, who will create a dish honouring the Holy Spirit festivities.

Renato Cunha is already considered the resident chef of this event and has collaborated in other initiatives to promote the Azores Brand, such as the Azores week at El Corte Inglés supermarkets.

Chef Olavo Pereira, a native of Pico Island, specialises in local cuisine and makes each gastronomic experience a true tribute to the endogenous resources of the Azores, especially those of Pico Island.

With this event, the Regional Government intends to promote proximity, based on the sensory experience of the islands through gastronomy, thereby stimulating consumption and, consequently, increasing the loyalty of local consumers and visitors.
