As part of the collaboration protocol between the Regional Government of the Azores and the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) in the field of agriculture, three technicians from the Agricultural and Agrifood Laboratories of that archipelago travelled to the Region this week to become acquainted with the various services provided by the Regional Veterinary Laboratory.

This exchange aims to develop human, technical and scientific potential for developing actions of interest to both regions in the veterinary, zootechnical and agricultural fields, especially in animal health and welfare, by-products and beekeeping, among others. This is the second visit by technicians from the regional administration of Madeira to their counterparts in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The visit also aims to harness the technical and scientific potential, establishing synergies for the development of projects of common interest, particularly in the areas of applied research and experimentation in veterinary science, zootechnics, agriculture, animal health and welfare, by-products, beekeeping, winegrowing and subtropical fruit growing, among others.

This exchange of experiences and visits, which began in 2022 between both autonomous regions, is an opportunity for them to harness their technical and scientific potential for joint and common strategies.

Under the protocol, the intention is to stimulate exchanges among technicians, agricultural producers and other economic agents from both regions, in the respective sectors, with a view to enhancing their professional, scientific and technological development, specifically by providing training, field trips and traineeships.

The Director of Agricultural and Agrifood Laboratory Services and two heads of department from this organisation belonging to the Regional Government of Madeira took part in the visit to the Azores.
