Artur Lima stresses that Madeira has "a long way to go" in terms of science and technology
Vice-Presidência do Governo Regional
The Vice-President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Artur Lima, stressed that the Autonomous Region of Madeira has "a long way to go" in "strengthening" collaboration in areas such as science and technology.
"I believe big steps need to be taken. We have all the conditions to do this, with the excellent example of TERINOV and Madeira business park," he noted.
Artur Lima spoke after accompanying the visit of the Regional Secretary for the Economy, Sea and Fisheries of the Government of Madeira, Rui Barreto, to the Terceira Island Science and Technology Park - TERINOV.
According to him, the Azores and Madeira must follow up on the commitments made at the 2022 joint summit and remain "strongly united" in all the "avenues for collaboration that can be established" to consolidate the position of the archipelagos in Macaronesia, Europe and even the United States of America.
Artur Lima also defended the implementation of "direct export channels to Madeira" in areas such as Azorean meat or milk, while stressing that, in the field of technology, there should be deeper relations between academia and business parks.
