Twenty professionals working for the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) from several Azorean islands attended another edition of the initial training course on "Principles and Management of the Intervention of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth" that took place in Ponta Delgada.
This is an initiative of the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government, through the Azores Commissioner's Office for Childhood. It is the result of a commitment to provide professionals within the Promotion and Protection System with greater technical qualifications as well as knowledge of the Law on the Protection of Children and Young People in Danger, with an impact on their daily practices.
For two days, the professionals from São Miguel, Terceira, São Jorge and Graciosa exchanged various experiences, according to the specificities of their territories, and expressed the need for faster responses to requests made to first-line entities.
With this training session, the Azores Commissioner's Office for Childhood is implementing its Activity Plan, having held three initial training sessions in the current year on the islands of Pico, Flores and São Miguel, involving almost sixty members and technical support staff of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth.
Participants in these training sessions have made a very positive assessment, both in terms of the contents covered and the potential impact on their professional performance, and in terms of the functioning of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth and the improvement of their intervention.
It should be noted that the regular provision of training to professionals within the Promotion and Protection System results from the rotation of CPCJ members, so next year the Technical Team of the Azores Commissioners' Office for Childhood will continue this effort to improve professional qualifications and protective intervention.
