Delivery of Marina da Barra project marked beginning of statutory visit to Graciosa
Presidência do Governo Regional
The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, delivered today the Marina da Barra project to the Mayor of Santa Cruz da Graciosa, which demonstrates that the Government is moving "from words to deeds" and responding to"long-standing" demands.
"Today is the first day of a new horizon for Graciosa, a tourist destination, to fill a gap in maritime-tourism activities. It is good news to start the day with a new cycle of development for the island," emphasised the President of the Government.
"Cooperation" with the local council is fundamental, José Manuel Bolieiro added, defending "intelligence and creative capacity" as essential conditions for "optimising resources," namely through co-financing.
In addition to the delivery of the project, which marked the beginning of the statutory visit to the island, an ARAAL contract was signed with Santa Cruz Municipal Council for the implementation of the works.
The signing of this contract gives shape to the financial support for the improvement works at the Santa Cruz da Graciosa Nautical Recreational Centre to create the conditions for the berthing of local and foreign recreational boats, making the most of the shelter conditions provided by the works, complementing the existing infrastructures and providing them with operational conditions.
The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, will now be responsible for providing financial support amounting to about 3.5 million Euros.
The Regional Government's statutory visit to the island of Graciosa will take place today and Tuesday.
The programme includes various visits and meetings as well as the usual meeting with the Island Council and the Council of the Government.
