Talking about the future is to talk about the consistency of the Government's measures and their permanence, recalls José Manuel Bolieiro

The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, recalled today the "consistency" of the Government's measures to relieve household spending directly and efficiently, listing a series of measures that are indispensable to the coalition.

"This is a Government of the Azores and for the Azores," José Manuel Bolieiro recalled, speaking in Madalena do Pico during the Regional Government's statutory visit.

The President of the Government presided over the signing of addenda to contracts for the increase of vacancies in daycare centres and Free Time Activity Centres (CATL) at the Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Madalena.

Talking about measures such as COMPAMID (support for the purchase of medicine), the New Elderly project and free daycare, the President of the Government emphasised that the "efficient implementation of measures" is the hallmark and identity of this government, ensuring that Azoreans are able to "manage their household budgets comfortably."

"Governments are at the service of the people. Priorities should be set: and our priority is to do good for our people, regardless of geography or age," he emphasised, speaking at a ceremony that was also attended by the Vice-President of the Government, Artur Lima, who is responsible for Social Solidarity.

José Manuel Bolieiro recalled the Government's willingness to continue "cooperating" with all the Santas Casas (charities) and Private Social Solidarity Institutions in the Region, which are truly "partners for development."

"Our path is one of progress. Everything cannot be solved in one day, that would be an illusion, no one can do that," he continued, pointing out the need to "share resources" in this "growing cooperation" with social sector institutions.

"Talking about the future is to talk about the consistency of measures and their permanence," he added, mentioning the recent Partnership Agreement signed with the social partners and also praising the ability of Madalena do Pico to maintain and even increase its population, as evidenced by the recent Census.

A total of 444 daycare vacancies were recently made available for the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial, Pico and Santa Maria.

Overall, the Regional Government has already signed a protocol for the creation of more than 600 daycare vacancies in the Region.

The Government is currently on the second of a three-day statutory visit to Pico.
