The Regional Secretariat for the Sea and Fisheries, through the Regional Directorate for Fisheries, informs that applications for the Compensation Scheme for Additional Costs for Fishery Products of the Autonomous Region of the Azores are now open for 2022 under the MAR 2030 Programme of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund.

The support aims to ensure fairer conditions for fishery and aquaculture products in the outermost regions by supporting compensation for additional costs incurred by operators in the fishing, farming, processing and marketing of certain fishery and aquaculture products in outermost regions.

Applications for this support are open to owners or operators of fishing vessels registered in the ports of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, who hold a valid fishing licence issued for the calendar year to which the operation relates, or their associations, and individuals or legal entities who are legally registered and hold the licences required to engage in wholesale or retail trade and the processing of fishery products, or their associations, with their tax domicile or registered office in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

For the purposes of support, two categories of products will be considered: one with a maximum limit of 2,700 tonnes, corresponding to species intended for commercialisation, which may be fresh fish or processed fish, and the other with a maximum limit of 7,500 tonnes, corresponding to tuna of regional and/or Community origin delivered to the processing industry based in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Applications submitted by beneficiaries who, on the date of submission of the application, are legally qualified to exercise the respective activity, and who hold the licences required for the exercise of the activity, for the year 2022, are considered eligible.

Applications must be submitted until September 30 through the Balcão dos Fundos at https://balcaofundosue.pt/. The notice will be published on the Portugal 2030 website, www.portugal2030.pt/, on the Mar 2030 website, www.mar2030.pt, and on the website of the Regional Fisheries Directorate at https://portal.azores.gov.pt/web/drp/mar-2030
