22 new positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed, with 11 on the island of São Miguel, seven on the island of Faial, two on the island of Terceira and two on the island of Pico, following 955 tests carried out in approved laboratories.
On the island of São Miguel, 10 of the new cases were registered in the municipality of Ponta Delgada and one in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. One of these cases concerns a non-resident traveller who tested positive upon arrival and the remaining cases have been registered in the context of community transmission.
On the island of Faial, all new cases registered are related to local transmission.
On the island of Terceira, a new positive case was registered in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, concerning a resident traveller who tested positive upon arrival and another in the municipality of Praia da Vitoria related to local transmission.
On the island of Pico, the two recorded cases are in the context of local transmission, in the municipality of São Roque.
Hospitalisations:
As of today, there are six patients hospitalised, all at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada. None of them are in intensive care unit.
Recoveries:
11 recoveries were registered in the archipelago, with 10 on the island of São Miguel (nine in the municipality of Ponta Delgada and one in the municipality of Ribeira Grande) and one on the island of Faial.
Current situation:
The archipelago currently registers 175 positive active cases: 150 on the island of São Miguel, 10 on the island of Faial, six on the island of Santa Maria, five on the island of Terceira and four on the island of Pico.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 9,229 positive cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Azores and 8,826 people recovered from the disease. There were 44 deaths, 95 people who left the archipelago and 89 cases with history of previous cure.
From December 31, 2020 to October 11, 173,743 people in the Azores have been vaccinated with the first dose (73,4 per cent) and 192,750 with complete vaccination (81,4 per cent), under the Regional Vaccination Plan.
