Regional Council for Culture discusses new support scheme proposal

The Regional Council for Culture has analysed the proposal put forward by the Regional Secretariat for Education, Culture and Sport for a new support scheme aimed at cultural activities.
The new members of the council met today at the Silveira e Paulo Palace in Angra do Heroísmo.
The Regional Secretary for Education, Culture and Sport, Sofia Ribeiro, explained that the new support scheme had been discussed, “taking into consideration the feedback provided by cultural stakeholders at last Friday’s meeting.”
It should be noted that proposals for improvements to the current legislation have been put forward by the entities concerned, particularly regarding the application schedule and the selection of funding thresholds.
The Regional Council for Culture comprises the Regional Secretary for Education, Culture and Sport, who chairs the council, the Regional Director for Culture, a representative of the Regional Museums of the Azores, a representative of the Island Museums of the Azores, and a representative of the Public Libraries and Regional Archives of the Azores.
The council also includes representatives of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the Azores Regional Office of the National Association of Parishes and the Diocese of Angra. In all three cases, the member is appointed by the respective entity.
Furthermore, Ana Paula Andrade, Carolina Bettencourt, Daniel Gonçalves, Francisco Maduro Dias, Hélder Bettencourt, Linda Luz, Lúcia Moniz, Maria João Gouveia, Nuno Costa and Rui Brix Elisabeth were invited to join the Regional Council.
The Regional Legislative Decree proposal establishing the legal status of voluntary association leaders in the Autonomous Region of the Azores was also considered during the meeting.
