location Angra do Heroísmo

Secretaria Regional da Saúde e Segurança Social

The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security is willing to consider any input and suggestions that may help improve transparency and the information provided to the public about the Regional Health Service (SRS).

In this regard, Mónica Seidi has expressed her willingness to consider specific proposals from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada concerning any indicators or additional content they deem relevant, as part of a process of continuous improvement of existing tools.

Following the letter sent by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada regarding the proposal to create the "Azores Health Transparency Portal," the Regional Secretariat for Health and Social Security considers it appropriate to provide the following clarifications:

Last year, the Government launched the SRS Indicators Portal, a public monitoring platform developed with an investment of about €30,000, funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

Unveiled publicly by the Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security on March 31, 2025, this portal provides objective, accessible and regularly updated information on the activities of regional healthcare facilities, enabling citizens to track various SRS performance indicators.

The available information includes indicators on hospital admissions, surgical procedures, outpatient consultations, A&E admissions, healthcare access, care delivery performance, efficiency, medication cost, and complementary diagnostic and therapeutic resources.

In this context, it is important to note that the proposal does not mention this monitoring and transparency tool, which is already available for public consultation and accessible to all citizens.

It is also important to note that the letter sent to the Regional Secretariat for Health and Social Security does not specify which indicators are unavailable and whose publication would justify the creation of a new platform.

The Government of the Azores will continue to strengthen the public information and monitoring tools for the SRS, always promoting transparency, accountability and continuous improvement for the benefit of Azorean citizens.
