The Vice-President of the Azorean Government, Artur Lima, was in Velas today to sign a cooperation agreement between the Regional Government and the São Jorge Island Vocational School, paving the way for the launch of a Beginners' Course in Programming with OutSystems.

For Artur Lima, "this is an initiative of significant regional interest, leading to the creation of specialised training in the digital field whilst mitigating territorial differences in the access to technological qualifications."

The Vice-President highlighted the need to continue investing in the digital and technological training of young Azoreans, encouraging them to remain in the Azores.

The cooperation protocol signed between the Regional Government and the São Jorge Island Vocational School provides financial support amounting to €35,000. The aim is to strengthen trainees' digital skills, increase their employability and stimulate the creation of new professional opportunities in the technology sector.

At the same time, the measure aims to contribute to attracting and establishing technology-based economic activity in the Region, as well as reducing territorial disparities in access to specialised training in digital technologies.

The Regional Government "is taking action to promote territorial cohesion and strengthen regional competitiveness, with a view towards the future," stressed the government official.

"This is a strategic development axis for the Region. We are investing in the future of our young people and their specialised training. We are creating the conditions to strengthen the technological innovation ecosystem of the Azores," stated Artur Lima.

Granted by the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores, the support is awarded under the PRO-SCIENTIA financial incentive system.

The Beginner's Course in Programming with OutSystems provides 22 vacancies and will have a total workload of 486 hours, running until June 22, 2026. The training includes 430 hours of practical work, 56 hours of theoretical training and 15 hours for assessment.
