José Manuel Bolieiro met with CCIPD and highlighted "dialogue and results" in the economy and tourism

The President of the Azorean Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, received a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada (CCIPD), led by Gualter Couto, as part of the regular institutional dialogue with entities representing the regional economic fabric.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters relevant to the economic development of the Region, with emphasis on the dynamics of the tourism sector, accessibility and the regional economic context. The President of the Government reiterated the importance of institutional dialogue and ongoing cooperation with entities representing the Azorean business community.
José Manuel Bolieiro pointed out that the Regional Government is closely and responsibly monitoring the evolution of the regional economy, stating that "governing means listening, engaging in dialogue and making decisions based on data, and a medium and long-term strategic vision."
The head of the Azorean Government highlighted that the Azores have just achieved EarthCheck's "Gold Level II" certification, consolidating a solid and progressive path towards sustainability.
"We are proud to receive this distinction, which confirms that the Azores are on the right track as a sustainable destination of excellence," he said.
Tourism now plays a central role in the Azorean economy, accounting for around 20% of Gross Value Added, 17% of Gross Domestic Product and 17% of employment, generating more than €1 billion in annual wealth.
José Manuel Bolieiro also highlighted the growth observed in recent years, noting that there are now 45% more overnight stays and 85% more tourism revenue than in 2019, "which demonstrates a solid and sustained growth in the sector."
The President of the Government also reiterated his confidence in the development model adopted and assured that the Government will continue to promote tourism throughout the year and across all islands, investing in the Region's distinctive resources and creating value for the Azorean economy.
