Public tender for housing allocation in São Brás, Terceira Island, from August 15 to September 30

Tomorrow, Friday, August 15, the public tender will open for the allocation of 13 houses in the São Brás Neighbourhood in the municipality of Praia da Vitória, Terceira Island, under the lease with purchase option scheme, as announced by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Housing. The houses were built by the Region under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, representing an investment of 2.1 million Euros. 

Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2025, by completing the appropriate form, available on the website of the Regional Housing Directorate (DRH) at https://portal.azores.gov.pt/web/drh/concursos. They must be accompanied by the documents listed in Article 7 of the Regulations and submitted in one of the following formats:

  • at the Terceira Island Housing Department, located at Rua dos Italianos, no. 10, 9700-099 Angra do Heroísmo;
  • at the RIAC - Integrated Citizen Support Network offices;
  • by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt to the Terceira Island Housing Department, located at Rua dos Italianos, no. 10, 9700-099 Angra do Heroísmo;
  • or via the email address of the Terceira Island Housing Department at [email protected].

The Regulations, which provide all the information about the conditions and procedure for access and allocation, are available for consultation on the website of the Regional Directorate for Housing. The dwellings to be allocated include eight two-bedroom houses, four three-bedroom houses and one four-bedroom house.

According to the Order issued by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, these new houses are intended for permanent residence of the applicants and their families. The purchase option can only be exercised by the tenant one year after signing the lease agreement.

Any requests for clarification on the understanding and interpretation of the Regulations and the Order published today should be addressed to the president of the jury and submitted by the interested parties in writing to the DRH Services of the Terceira Island Housing Department and the corresponding services of the Island Services of the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment. Alternatively, they should be sent to the email address [email protected] no later than September 10, 2025. Requests will be answered within a maximum of three working days from the date on which they are received.
