On this historic milestone marking the fiftieth anniversary of RTP/Açores, we celebrate not only half a century of broadcasting but also five decades of a profound commitment to the identity, culture and values of the Azorean people.

Since its founding, RTP/Açores has been much more than a television channel. It is a true pillar of regional unity, a space where the nine islands meet, recognise each other, and strengthen their ties. Through its programming and production, RTP/Açores has given a voice to local communities, promoted dialogue between generations, creativity and fiction about our way of life and culture, while strengthening the sense of belonging that unites the Azoreans.

In an archipelago shaped by the dispersion of our geography, RTP/Açores has played a key role in strengthening the political autonomy of the Azores, keeping pace with and sharing the most significant moments in the history of our autonomy. It has also given visibility to the decisions that determine our future and has ensured that the Azorean people stay informed and involved.

Nevertheless, its reach extends far beyond the archipelago's borders. RTP/Açores is also a living bridge to the Azorean diaspora, scattered across the four corners of the world. For these Azoreans, RTP/Açores is an emotional link, a window onto their roots, and a way of keeping alive their emotional and cultural ties to the Azores.

On this very special anniversary, we pay tribute to all the professionals who, over the past 50 years, have contributed to making RTP/Açores a benchmark for proximity and public service. May the next 50 years be marked by innovation, dedication and continued love for the Azores.
