Secretaria Regional da Educação, Cultura e Desporto
The Regional Secretary for Education, Culture and Sport, Sofia Ribeiro, announced the opening of applications for island pools for the recruitment of operational assistants for Azorean schools this Wednesday, June 11.
"This is a unique procedure in the country and is intended to make the process less bureaucratic for those who apply, ensuring a faster replacement in regional schools," she said.
Applicants can choose which islands and schools they want to apply for and the type of employment contract they are looking for, "whether is a contract of indefinite duration or a fixed-term or unfixed-term contract."
"They can select the islands and the schools as well as the type of contracts they want to have access to, and then, depending on the needs of school establishments, they are placed in rank order," explained Sofia Ribeiro.
Nevertheless, applicants will qualify through a recruitment procedure, "complying with all the rules for access to the civil service" for a “one-year period," joining an island pool.
According to the head of Education, the process is intended to respond to temporary hiring needs due to sick leave.
