Berta Cabral welcomes parliamentary approval of financial support for SOLENERGE - Communication

The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, welcomed today the parliamentary approval of a 41 million-euro increase in funding for the SOLENERGE programme, a tool created under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) for the acquisition of photovoltaic panels.

Speaking at the plenary session of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Horta, the government official recalled that the programme was approved with a budget of 19 million Euros. However, it was highly sought after by Azorean families.

“Fortunately, it was possible to increase the financial allocation of this programme by 41 million Euros under the RRP reprogramming,” stated Berta Cabral.

She mentioned the unanimous approval of the financial boost: "We appreciate and commend the different parliamentary groups for this constructive way of working at this Assembly."

It should be noted that SOLENERGE has been in effect since September 2022 under Investment C14-i03-RAA- Energy Transition in the Azores, as part of the RRP.

The high uptake of SOLENERGE shows that this was an effective measure. It significantly contributed to reducing the energy bills of households and businesses throughout the Region while promoting the energy transition of the Azores in a meaningful way.
