The Public Administration Advisory Council met this afternoon to assess the ongoing projects promoted by the Azorean Government with a view to modernising and enhancing the Regional Public Administration.
The meeting was chaired by Duarte Freitas, the Regional Secretary for Finance, Planning, and Public Administration, who emphasised the importance of dialogue and collaboration among the various institutional partners in building sustainable and effective solutions.
Several initiatives underway were discussed at the meeting, including rejuvenating the Public Administration staff, making working conditions more flexible, and promoting a more dynamic and results-oriented organisational culture.
Duarte Freitas noted that "these measures aim not only to respond to demographic and human resource management challenges but also to guarantee a public administration that is closer to citizens, more agile in responding to their needs and more efficient in its use of public resources."
"The quality of public spending requires a more efficient, more productive and better trained public administration to provide the response that Azorean citizens deserve," he said.
The Regional Secretary called for an active contribution from the members of the Advisory Council, stressing that building a modern public administration requires a shared vision based on innovation, digital transformation of services and the promotion of workers.
"We want a Public Administration that is a driving force for regional development, capable of keeping up with social and economic changes and providing quality services with efficiency and transparency," he said.
Duarte Freitas concluded by emphasising that the Regional Government will continue to be committed to promoting a more efficient and humane Public Administration that is better prepared for the challenges of the future, counting on the involvement of all those who make up this strategic sector for the Region.
The Public Administration Advisory Council consists of representatives from Public Administration Unions and the Regional Government.
