Tender launched for purchase of MRI equipment for Horta Hospital - Communication

The public tender for the purchase of MRI equipment for the Horta Hospital was published in the Official Journal this week.

The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, visited the hospital to learn about the work in progress, namely the area being prepared for the installation of the MRI machine, and congratulated those involved in the process "for the timely progress that has been made."

The restructuring work underway at Horta Hospital includes the creation of a space to accommodate magnetic resonance imaging "and this space is very close to completion."

"We are very optimistic that the process will be swift, especially as it will bring enormous comfort to our patients," she said.

Based on the 2024 records, about 60 patients and their respective accompanying persons have to leave Faial every month, "as there is no imaging equipment here, and soon this will no longer be necessary. Patients will naturally benefit from this."

This is a 1.3 million Euro investment that comes under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
