Presidência do Governo Regional
The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, accompanied by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, announced today the launch of the public tender for the construction of three houses on the island of Graciosa.
This investment, amounting to 720 thousand Euros plus VAT, will be financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
The three-bedroom houses will be built on serviced plots on the island, specifically, plots 1 and 8 located in the Rua Barão Fonte do Mato subdivision, parish of São Mateus, and plot 4 in the Dores subdivision, parish of Santa Cruz da Graciosa. The works contract will have a completion period of up to 420 days and will be awarded based on the most economically favourable proposal, following the multifactor modality.
Simultaneously, the Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, will develop the infrastructure construction project for the second phase of the Rua Barão Fonte do Mato subdivision in the parish of São Mateus, municipality of Santa Cruz da Graciosa.
The Regional Directorate for Housing will be responsible for procuring the project development service, financed by European funds, namely the RRP. The project will take 50 days to complete and will include the planning of the necessary infrastructures to support future housing construction.
The head of the Azorean Government noted that 80% of the housing tenders launched under the RRP in the Autonomous Region of the Azores have already been completed. He highlighted the Regional Government's commitment to guaranteeing decent housing and improving housing supply in the Region.
"We are fulfilling our commitments and providing better living conditions for Azorean families," he said.
José Manuel Bolieiro expressed satisfaction with the progress made, despite the challenges of labour shortage, availability of materials and associated costs.
"Despite the difficulties, we are achieving excellent results, demonstrating the Government's resilience and implementation capacity," he stressed.
As part of the RRP, the Regional Directorate for Housing has already completed the refurbishment of five properties on the island of Graciosa, an investment of €259,205.77, plus VAT.
This action falls within the Regional Government's efforts to promote population stability by improving the housing stock and encouraging the construction of new houses.
"We intend to ensure a housing supply to help the population settle, guaranteeing quality of life and sustainable development," concluded José Manuel Bolieiro.
