José Manuel Bolieiro welcomed new Commander of GNR Territorial Command

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, received today Colonel Cláudia Santos, Commander of the Azores Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR), on a visit to exchange greetings.
The head of the Azorean Government welcomed the GNR commander and reiterated the Regional Government's willingness to collaborate with GNR in fulfilling its duties in the archipelago.
"GNR plays a fundamental role in supporting the Azorean population. The Regional Government recognises and values this commitment," stressed José Manuel Bolieiro.
Colonel Cláudia Santos has a long career in the GNR, having held several important positions, namely adviser to the Commandant-General of the Guard, command positions in the Lisbon Territorial Command and positions linked to teaching and the institution's international relations. Her career also includes leading traffic deployments and participating in EUROGENDFOR, the European Gendarmerie force.
For her part, the new Commander of the Azores Territorial Command stressed the importance of institutional cooperation for the success of the GNR's mission in the Region.
She has been honoured with 10 commendations and 13 decorations by national and foreign bodies, recognising her merit and dedication to service.
