Interjovem Card holders can travel for 48 Euros on SATA Air Açores and 15 euros on Atlânticoline - Communication

Interjovem Card holders will continue to benefit this year from the special conditions for air and sea mobility between the different islands of the archipelago. They will pay no more than 48 Euros round trip for flights operated by SATA Air Açores and only 15 Euros round trip for sea routes operated by Atlânticoline.

These special conditions will be renewed in 2025 through a contract-programme between the Region and both companies, signed by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment. It subsidises the discounts on fares applied to Interjovem Card holders, representing "a major commitment to youth mobility," stressed Maria João Carreiro.

"Investing in mobility is about creating the conditions for young people to move freely around the Region for social, cultural or occupational purposes. The Interjovem Card has contributed to this, given public investment in its revitalisation. Young people increasingly recognise it as a discovery and boarding pass.

In addition to the special fares, Interjovem Card members benefit from the same conditions as passengers travelling under the Azores Fare on SATA Air Açores - without reservation or baggage restrictions.

This year's planned investment in compensation for special tariffs is set at 40 thousand Euros. 

With the renewal of the protocol between the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment and the Agency for the Modernisation and Quality of Citizen Services - RIAC, I.P., the purchase and payment procedures for the Interjovem Card, which can be paid via MBWay, ATM Reference or Credit Card, are once again secured for 2025.

"Interjovem has marked several generations and is marking others as its functionalities have been enhanced and it is suited to the reality of young Azoreans," praised the Regional Secretary. She also stressed that the Interjoven Card has more than 100 partners on all the islands,  guaranteeing young cardholders a minimum of 10% discount on the services provided by the respective partners. 

Since the PSD/CDS/PPM coalition Government presented the new image of the Interjovem Card and added new functionalities, such as air and sea travel, the Card price has been reduced from 20 Euros to 10 Euros. Additionally,  an app has been created not only for purchasing but also for geo-referencing Interjovem member partners.

During the Christmas season,  considering the flow of inter-island mobility for young people, especially those travelling from their island of residence for academic or professional purposes, the Government launched a special Christmas campaign. It provides inter-island air travel at 21 Euros round trip and 15 euros one way in December on SATA Air Açores.

In the last special Christmas campaign, about 300 tickets were sold to Interjovem Card holders, corresponding to 26% of the trips sold during 2024.

Young people born or residing in the Azores, aged between 13 and 30, can acquire the Interjovem Card, which is made available by the Regional Directorate for Youth for 10 Euros. It can be purchased on the Interjovem Card app, available for Android (Google Play) and iOS (APP Store), or on the website https://www.cartaointerjovem.com/. It is valid for 1 year.
