Allocation of water heaters in Flores and Graciosa to optimise energy consumption
location Ponta Delgada

Secretaria Regional do Turismo, Mobilidade e Infraestruturas

The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, has already opened registrations for the campaign to allocate electric water heaters to homes on the islands of Flores and Graciosa.

The initiative aims to provide a more sustainable solution for heating water, promote the electrification of homes and optimise energy consumption management, reducing household costs and contributing to the decarbonisation of the Region.

On the islands of Flores and Graciosa, most of the electricity is generated from renewable sources, which helps to reduce the ecological footprint and increase environmental sustainability.

The campaign now launched encourages the use of high levels of renewable energy available on these islands and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by decreasing dependence on butane gas and fossil fuel imports.

Individuals who own the property or have the owner's authorisation to install the devices are eligible for this campaign.

The properties where the water heaters will be installed in Flores and Graciosa must meet the required conditions. Applications will be analysed on a "first-come, first-served" basis and must be duly completed.

Registrations run until the end of March and can be made through the Azores Energy Portal: https://portaldaenergia.azores.gov.pt/portal/Eficiencia-Energetica/Termoacumuladores.

This is another initiative within the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project.
