Secretaria Regional da Juventude, Habitação e Emprego

The application period for the allocation, subject to title retention, of 18 serviced plots, through a public tender, in the parish of Ribeirinha, municipality of Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Island, is open until February 28, as announced by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Housing.

The plots covering an area of 200m² each are intended for the construction of three-bedroom individual dwellings, with a gross construction area of 112m², granted under title retention and without a project. Allocations will be made by drawing lots among the first 18 applicants ranked according to the criteria defined in the tender regulations.

The cost of the square metre of serviced plots was set at €125.00, with the actual cost to be borne by beneficiaries, as determined according to the household gross monthly income per capita. This measure aims to guarantee conditions of greater social justice and financial accessibility for Azorean families.

According to Announcement no. 27/2025 of January 28, 2025, published in the Official Journal, applications will be scored with an increase for young candidates. This will also allow the plot beneficiaries to access support for self-construction, reducing housing building costs.

The plots to be transferred under this tender are located at Rua do Jogo. The application form is available at portal.azores.gov.pt and can be submitted at the Regional Directorate for Housing services or at the RIAC offices.

The Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, emphasised that this measure is part of the Regional Government's strategy to guarantee more and better access to housing, within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which provides for the allocation of 145 serviced plots in the Region by June 2026.

"This tender falls within the Regional Government's strategy to promote the settlement of population in the Azores, supporting young people in building their future and boosting the local economy. With the Recovery and Resilience Plan, we are ensuring that a growing number of serviced plots are provided in the Region, guaranteeing more opportunities for access to housing, reinforcing support for Azorean families and ensuring decent and affordable housing solutions," stressed Maria João Carreiro.
