The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, received in audience the President of the Maré de Agosto Cultural Association, Rui Jorge Parece Baptista. He highlighted the organisation's fundamental role in the cultural promotion of Santa Maria Island and the projection of the Azores internationally.
The head of the Azorean Government emphasised the importance of the work carried out by the association, which, since its foundation in 1987, has been one of the main drivers of culture on that island. He acknowledged the impact of the Maré de Agosto Festival, not only as a reference event in the Azorean music scene but also as a driver of the local economy, especially in the tourism sector.
"You can count on the Azorean Government as a partner in the development of your cultural initiatives," José Manuel Bolieiro stated, reiterating the Government's willingness to support projects aimed at promoting Azorean identity and boosting the dynamics of the archipelago's nine islands.
"The Regional Government has the wisdom to understand the importance of the work carried out by these and other cultural agents who project the Azores across borders," he added, acknowledging the essential contribution of culture to the Region's position in the world.
The Maré de Agosto Cultural Association is an essential reference in the artistic and cultural dynamisation of the Azores, promoting musical diversity and attracting audiences from various backgrounds. The Regional Government's commitment seeks to ensure that these initiatives continue to grow, consolidating Santa Maria's role as an important cultural centre in the archipelago.
