Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food welcomes election of São Miguel Agricultural Association's governing bodies - Communication

The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food welcomes the election of the renewed term of office of the governing bodies of the São Miguel Agricultural Association for four years.

It should be noted that this association also presides over the Azores Agricultural Federation.

As the representative of the regional agricultural associations, the Azores Agricultural Federation is an active partner in public policies for agriculture. With its expertise, initiatives and demands, it has contributed to the development of a more prosperous and resilient agriculture.

"I would like to congratulate the president of the São Miguel Agricultural Association, Jorge Rita, for renewing his term as the head of the São Miguel Agricultural Association and as president of the Azores Agricultural Federation," stated António Ventura, the Regional Secretary.

He continued: "An umbrella organisation with experience, knowledge and a future perspective like the Agricultural Federation is essential in the Region so that we can implement the best public policies within our financial reach."

The regional agrifood sector is essential for the Azoreans, contributing to regional wealth, settling people, curbing population ageing, creating environmental sustainability, promoting land-use planning and landscaping, and cooperating with tourism.
