The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, through the Azores Brand Management and Promotion Office, will be present at the 36th edition of the World Cheese Awards. The event will be held for the first time in Portugal at the Multipurpose Pavilion in Viseu between November 15 and 17.

With an institutional stand, the Azores Brand will be part of this event for the first time, representing the 22 member companies and 107 references certified with the Azores Brand seal, which demonstrates the importance of regional production on the national scene.

Between November 15 and 17, Viseu will be the stage for the world of cheese as it hosts the 36th edition of the World Cheese Awards, which is taking place in Portugal for the first time. According to the organisers, the event has already seen a record number of participants, with more than 4,500 cheeses entering from 47 countries, and the largest-ever number of Portuguese producers competing, with 182 cheeses in competition, including several from the Azores.

In addition to the cheese competition, known as the "Cheese Oscars," the event also features several activities such as the Cheese Summit and the Gastronomic Festival; both are open to the public. Admission is free and visitors can savour several other regional products besides cheese.

The 36th edition of the World Cheese Awards includes more than 250 judges from 40 countries who will evaluate the best cheeses.

With this participation, the Regional Government intends to disseminate the diversity of the Azores Brand-certified production of cheese in the archipelago, where one can find different types of cheese from eight of the archipelago's islands.
