The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, attended today the swearing-in ceremony of Piedade Lalanda, the new President of the Economic and Social Council of the Azores (CESA), held at the Parliament Museum on the island of Faial.

On the occasion, the President of the Government emphasised the importance of CESA as a fundamental space for building public policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of the Azorean civil society.

José Manuel Bolieiro stressed that CESA represents one of the pillars of the governance decentralisation strategy promoted by the Regional Government, becoming an instrument of independence and cooperation.

"The Economic and Social Council is an essential structure for our democracy and the creation of participatory and sustainable policies. We want CESA to continue to be a space for dialogue, where the different voices and sectors of our society can make themselves heard and where, together, we can find solutions to our Region's challenges," said José Manuel Bolieiro.

He also emphasised the importance of leadership guided by transparency and example, promoting mutual trust between the government and citizens.

"It is our responsibility to lead with a spirit of openness and inclusion, demonstrating that continuous and constructive dialogue is the path to more balanced and fair development. We need to listen, learn and act together to respond to the needs of the Azores," he said.

The head of the Azorean Government assured that the Regional Government is committed to ensuring the independence and suitable working conditions for CESA, now chaired by Piedade Lalanda, to fulfil its mission autonomously.
