President of the Government receives Swiss Ambassador to Portugal - Communication

The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, received the Swiss Ambassador to Portugal, Denis Knobel, at an audience.

The Swiss diplomat's visit to the archipelago had as its main goal the establishment of new relations between the Azores and Switzerland, with the opening of a Swiss consulate in Ponta Delgada.

According to José Manuel Bolieiro, this is a significant step in "strengthening relations between Switzerland and the Azores."

During the meeting, the leader of the Azorean Government expressed his "full willingness to cooperate" with the new consulate, highlighting the importance of the Swiss diplomatic presence in the Azores.

The President of the Regional Government also took the opportunity to exchange a few words with the ambassador about bilateral relations between Switzerland and the archipelago.

Ambassador Denis Knobel, for his part, highlighted the work carried out by the Regional Government to support consular activities and recognised the importance of the Region's support.

The diplomat also took the opportunity to invite the President of the Government to visit Switzerland, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening cooperation ties between both territories.
