Regional Government against application of maximum eligible cost for air travel to Mainland Portugal and Madeira - Communication

The Regional Government firmly opposes the stipulation of a maximum eligible cost for air travel between the Azores and Mainland Portugal and between the Azores and Madeira.

The government regrets that the ordinance on the subject, published today in the Official Gazette, was released before the findings of the working group set up to revise matters concerning social mobility aid. The final report was due by the end of the month.

Acknowledging the need to standardise the use of the social mobility aid, which was misused by some, the Regional Government reiterates its opposition to the application of a maximum eligible cost for travel. It also regrets the publication of the ordinance at a time when the working group on the subject has yet to complete its report.
