President of the Government praises expansion of Nordeste Industrial Park, a truly strategic public investment - Communication

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, chaired the opening of the expansion of the Nordeste Industrial Park on Tuesday, a significant milestone for the economic development of this municipality on São Miguel Island.

In response to the growing demand from companies and organisations interested in setting up the Nordeste Industrial Park, the town council has decided to expand the industrial park, a process that began in 2019 in the project phase and whose construction began in 2023.

The expansion includes 14 new plots for the installation of industrial units, varying in size and configuration to meet different needs. The plots are already fitted with the necessary infrastructure and cover an area of approximately 3.97 hectares. The project was submitted as an application to the Azores 2020 Operational Programme and co-financed by the ERDF, with an overall investment of €1,817,083.82.

José Manuel Bolieiro praised the "strategic vision" of Nordeste Town Council, highlighting its commitment to the development of the municipality and its "ability to believe in the future."

"Wealth generation takes place simultaneously through strategic public investment, but above all through the dynamics of private investment," he said.

He also stressed the importance of creating favourable conditions for private investment, stating that "private investment with confidence and expectations of success creates jobs and wealth."

The President of the Government also stated that this type of investment contributes to the maintenance of the population in Nordeste by creating jobs as well as fostering business confidence and private investment.

The expansion of the industrial park is regarded as a crucial step towards attracting new entrepreneurs and boosting the local economy, in what has been a proactive approach by the Nordeste Town Council.

"Politics and the general interest must be strategic, creating the conditions for private investment to succeed," José Manuel Bolieiro added, speaking on the sidelines of the visit.

The expansion of the Nordeste Industrial Park represents a strategic investment that will bring significant benefits to the Region, combining public support with confidence in private investment.
