Secretaria Regional da Juventude, Habitação e Emprego
According to the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Vocational Training and Employment, 644 young people were admitted to the ESTAGIAR U, 77% of whom chose to undergo training and 55% to carry out their traineeship in July.
This professional traineeship programme for young higher education students living in the Azores runs for one month. It can be conducted in July, August, or September, with a maximum weekly schedule of 25 hours, matching the schedule of the entity providing the internship.
Private companies, cooperatives, public companies or non-profit organisations are eligible to promote ESTAGIAR U.
Young people have the possibility of attending certified training sessions with a workload of no less than 20 hours, which takes place in the month of their traineeship.
Trainees who fulfil the 25-hour working week and provide proof of completion of the certified training will be paid compensation equal to the Minimum Monthly Wage in the Region, which will be reduced by 30% for young people choosing not to do the training.
The ESTAGIAR U programme aims to provide young people up to the age of 30 attending undergraduate, master's and postgraduate programmes with a professional traineeship in a real work context, as a complement to their socio-professional skills. It also promotes their integration into working life and encourages companies and employers to recruit them.
