Regional Government supports 4th Conference of Macaronesian Social Workers to be held on São Miguel Island - Communication

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, received the Association of Social Work Professionals - Azores Section at an audience held on Thursday.

The audience was an opportunity to present the 4th Conference of Macaronesian Social Workers - "Social Work and Social Change: the Construction of intervention paths in contemporary times" - which will take place at the Aula Magna of the University of the Azores on the island of São Miguel on October 10 and 11. The event will be supported by the Regional Government. 

"The Regional Government is available to support initiatives aimed at acknowledging the relevant role of social work and its professionals in the Azores," said José Manuel Bolieiro.

"The organisation of this congress provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and collaboration among experts, which is the basis for implementing effective and innovative policies," he added.

The meeting will bring together representatives and experts from the Macaronesian archipelagos - the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde.

The event aims to promote cooperation and exchange of knowledge among these island regions, addressing crucial areas such as sustainable development, mental health and addictions, employment and vocational training, housing, poverty and social exclusion. About 250 people are expected to take part in this conference.
