Cooperation strategy between Government and municipality of Horta secures ambitious future for the municipality, says José Manuel Bolieiro

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, accompanied by the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, presided over the opening of the urban redevelopment of Horta seafront, an example of "understanding" between the Government and local authorities, in this case, the municipality of the island of Faial.
"This project is an example of understanding, which has made what we are opening here today a reality. We are doing together what would probably not have been possible separately," recalled José Manuel Bolieiro.
He added: "We have to first and foremost serve our people, our territories, our islands, our municipalities and all our parishes: the entire territory of the Azores. No one should be left behind.
The project represented an overall investment of more than three million Euros, securing a financial contribution from the Government of almost one million Euros, corresponding to 50 % of the non-co-financed investment.
"The future of Horta is more ambitious than its history. With this strategy and this sharing, we will have a future in tourism development on the island of Faial. We will have an optimistic future with the capacity to organise global events," said the President of the Government.
As a result of this "cooperation strategy" between the Regional Regional Government and the municipality of Horta, there will be another intervention on the seafront soon, regardless of the work that has already been open - it will synergise with it - and will cover the North Marina building.
"We are celebrating the most Atlantic and western European city. The Atlanticism of Europe has given it a future in its history. "It will secure a future in the upcoming times and for new generations," said the President of the Government.
This week, Horta marks the 191st anniversary of its elevation to city status.
