On June 27 and 28, the city of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, will host the third Learning Deep Dive (LDD), a meeting of the European project SATellite data and Spatial Data InFrAstruCTures for an evidence-based regIONal governance (SATSDIFACTION), co-funded by the Interreg Europe programme.

After Italy and Poland hosted the first two LDDs of this project, in June 2023 and February 2024, respectively, the Azores will host the third meeting that brings together the seven European partners that make up this consortium: the regions of the Azores (Portugal), Veneto (Italy), Basilicata (Italy), Podkarpackie (Poland) and Occitanie (France), the Municipality of Riga (Latvia) and ISSeP (Belgium).

On Thursday, June 27, there will be two working sessions at Teatro Micaelense, the first of which will focus on exchanging experiences and best practices in the areas of energy, the environment and climate change. Meanwhile, the second will be dedicated to space data infrastructures, Earth observation and regional infrastructures in the space sector, which will also include a technical working session. The day ends with a visit to the CIVISA/University of the Azores premises.

June 28 will be dedicated to field activities that include a visit to the Pico Vermelho geothermal power plant and other points of interest on the island.

The SATSDIFACTION project began in 2023 and runs for four years, with the aim of promoting the sharing of experiences and the transfer of knowledge in the use of satellite data in spatial data infrastructures, at local and regional level, as a means of improving the implementation of regional public policies.
