Early school dropout rate falls to historic low in the Azores, says José Manuel Bolieiro

The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, praised today the reduction in the early school dropout rate in the Azores, from 26.1% to 21.7%.
"This is a historic figure for the Azores," he said, highlighting data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) for 2023.
The INE has been recording data on the early school dropout rate in education and training since 2011, and since that year there has been no record of such a low figure.
"We saw the first drop in 2021, after five years of complete stagnation, and now we see the second, a very significant drop of 4.4 percentage points," emphasised the President of the Government. In this regard, he praised the work carried out by the Regional Secretary for Education, Sofia Ribeiro, and the Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, Maria João Carreiro.
"This is the result of the policies adopted by the XIII Government of the Azores, which, for the first time, began to individually monitor each student who is an early school dropout," says José Manuel Bolieiro.
It should be noted that the early school dropout rate represents the percentage of young people aged between 18 and 24 who have not completed secondary education or are not in any form of education or training.
