Cybersecurity under discussion on Terceira Island
Presidência do Governo Regional
As part of the Azores CyberTalks initiatives, the second edition of C-Days Azores, an event dedicated to cybersecurity, was recently held in partnership with the National Cybersecurity Centre (CNCS).
This year, C-Days Azores, under the theme "More Trust," took place on the island of Terceira, following the success of its first edition, held in October 2022 in the city of Ponta Delgada.
With about 100 participants from various regional and national companies and institutions, various topics were presented and discussed by different panels featuring 15 speakers from various areas of society, companies and institutions.
This is an important initiative that encourages the consolidation of critical mass, the establishment of contacts and the exchange of experiences among peers, which are important in the development of cybersecurity skills.
According to the Regional Director for Communications and Digital Transition, Pedro Batista, "Azoreans have every reason to feel more confident" in this field.
He explained: "The Government of the Azores continues to invest in cybersecurity across its different vectors, from the technical training of human resources, which are increasingly scarce in this area, to raising awareness among the population of the need for better and safer practices when using cyberspace and the implementation of computer security infrastructures."
According to Pedro Batista, cybersecurity "is much more behavioural than technological."
"I doubt that we could have done more and better in these almost three years, since we have achieved everything we set out to do and everything that had never been done in the Region before. What I do not doubt is that the Regional Public Administration is now at a very high level compared to the national reality," emphasised the Regional Director.
