The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, attended the tribute concert to Azorean guitarist José Pracana at Coliseu Micaelense on Monday, recalling the musician's "talent" and stressing that he "greatly honoured and made the Azores proud."
On the occasion of World Day of Fado, this concert hall was the venue of a tribute concert to this Azorean musician, bringing together musicians, family, friends and fans in Ponta Delgada.
"We are celebrating World Day of Fado but also the friendship and legacy of José Pracana," emphasised the President of the Government. According to him, the Azores sea "has never been a constraint but rather a leverage" for talent in areas such as music, literature, philosophy and politics.
José Pracana, who performed, for example, with Amália Rodrigues and Alfredo Marceneiro, died in 2016 at the age of 70.
Born in Ponta Delgada, José Pracana was one of the most accomplished and respected figures in the history of fado.
