The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, confirmed today that a new Health Centre will be built "from scratch" for Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Island, another evidence that Health is an effective "priority for this Government."
"The Ribeira Grande Health Centre was not in a position, nor did it have the potential, to respond to the ambition we have for excellence in health care in this municipality," he stressed.
José Manuel Bolieiro spoke at the Ribeira Grande Town Hall, where the land where the new centre will be located was presented via computer - due to the heavy rain, it was not possible to visit the site today.
The 35,000 square metre land plot, "with an excellent location" in the parish of Conceição, is currently undergoing the necessary legal procedures for its acquisition by the Region.
The legal procedures for the acquisition of the 35,000 square metre land plot, "with an excellent location in the parish of Conceição, are currently underway.
"The investment we are planning for the municipality of Ribeira Grande will exceed 20 million Euros," José Manuel Bolieiro said, mentioning the new Ribeira Grande Health Centre and the future new Maia Health Centre.
"We are here today and right now because a lot of work has been done," the President of the Government continued, declaring that "priorities have been defined" and the "funding expectations" of the works have been confirmed, namely through the Azores 2030 EU programme.
He continued: "I am very pleased. We have good news for Ribeira Grande. We have also consolidated and legally established the Lagoa Health Centre," he added, pointing out that the island of São Miguel currently has a similar unit for each of its six municipalities.
