Regional Government promotes "Merit Measure" in Sport - Communication

The Regional Secretariat for Health and Sport, through the Regional Directorate for Sport (DRD), promotes the "Merit Measure" under the TOP Club Programme of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) in close collaboration with this national entity.

The "Merit Measure" aims to reward good practices in the management of sports clubs, recognising and highlighting the daily work carried out by clubs for sports and social development.

This initiative, which is now extended to the archipelago of the Azores, follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the DRD and the IPDJ, together with the Regional Directorate of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with the aim of extending the Top Club initiative to the autonomous regions, thus widening the national scope of this programme.

It should be noted that the memorandum of understanding was signed during the National Meeting of the Sports Public Administration, which recently took place in Angra do Heroísmo.

This partnership is also intended to build closer relations and establish synergies among the partners to promote the presence and inclusion of the Azores in national matters so that, together, we can all be better prepared for the current and future challenges of the Region and the Country.

Accordingly, all sports clubs and associations as well as associations promoting sports (APD) clubs promoting the practice of sports that are registered in the National Registry of Sports Federations and Clubs (RNFDC) are eligible to apply for the regional awards of the "Merit Measure" in various categories.

Other entities involved in sports, duly registered, providing sports services that do not fall under the categories above may also apply for this measure.

Applications for the 2023 "Merit Measure" edition are being submitted until June 30. They can be made on this link on the Top Club portal - Merit Measure (ipdj.gov.pt), where all the information about the awards, model, rules and deadlines is also available.
