Second edition of "Seminar on Social Security Contributory Schemes" held in Angra do Heroísmo

The Vice-Presidency of the Azores Regional Government, through the Institute for Social Security of the Azores, IPRA, promotes the second edition of the "Seminar on Social Security Contributory Schemes" in Angra do Heroísmo between June 15 and 16. 

The seminar will take place at the António Dacosta Auditorium of the Tomás de Borba Basic Education and Secondary School. It is coordinated by Ana Celeste Carvalho, Associate Judge and President of the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Lisbon, and Nuno Monteiro Amaro, Master in Administrative Law and guest lecturer at the Porto Business School.

The first edition of this seminar was held in Ponta Delgada on May 25 and 26 and featured speakers of outstanding academic and professional merit. They will now travel to the island of Terceira for the same purpose and will be joined on this second edition by another speaker, who will address the tax reversal process, a relevant matter that was not discussed at the first seminar.

On June 15, there will be presentations by Luís Manuel Pica, lecturer at the Beja Polytechnic Institute. He will address the general employee scheme, the contributory scheme for self-employed workers who accumulate their activity with an activity as employees, Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) and other non-profit employers, the contributory scheme for local and coastal fishing and the contributory scheme for self-employed workers and voluntary social insurance.

On the same day, Hugo Silva, lecturer at the University of Minho, will speak about the contributory scheme for the members of statutory bodies and the companies under the fiscal transparency regime. In turn, Sandra Medeiros, head of the Revitalisation Directorate of the Social Security Financial Management Institute, will address mandatory contributions and the reasons for their cessation.

On June 16, the morning will begin with presentations by Ana Celeste Carvalho  
on administrative offences, followed by Sandra Medeiros on credit claims and exceptional debt settlement situations, and by Hugo Silva on the tax reversal process. 

The event is aimed at managers, social security technicians and workers, regional and local public administration workers, professional associations, business associations and workers' representatives. It is based on a strategy of strengthening the training and capacity building of services and openness to civil society.

The opening session will take place on June 15 at 9:30 am and will be chaired by the Vice-President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Artur Lima.
