Luis Gonzalez de Vallejo 

Luis Gonzalez de Vallejo is an Emeritus Professor at the Department of Geodynamics at Complutense University of Madrid and the Head of the Geohazards Department at the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (INVOLCAN). He has dedicated his professional career to teaching and researching geological engineering, geotechnics, and geohazards. Professor Gonzalez de Vallejo has conducted numerous geological and geotechnical investigations for the design and construction of civil engineering infrastructures, as well as projects for the prevention and mitigation of geohazards, mainly landslides and rockfalls in Spain, Mexico, and Central and South America. His work also includes seismic hazard assessments for nuclear power plants, radioactive waste disposal, and large dams. He has published over 160 papers in journals, proceedings, and books. In 2010, he was invited to present the XXVII Manuel Rocha Lecture at the Portuguese Geotechnical Society. He is a Member of the Academy of Engineering of Mexico since 2019.
