The Regional Secretariat for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, through the Crafts and Design Centre of the Azores, promotes the Azores Christmas Crafts Fair at the Pavilhão do Mar in Ponta Delgada from December 1 to 4.

The exhibition will feature 66 craft production units from the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Pico, São Jorge, Flores and Corvo in what is the largest exhibition and commercial event of the handicraft sector in the Azores.

With free admission, this diversified showcase of the best that is produced in the Region will be held from Thursday to Sunday (December 1 to 4) between 2 and 11 pm.

The welcome session will take place on Thursday at 6 pm and will be chaired by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, Maria João Carreiro.

In addition to the exhibition and demonstrations of craftwork by artisans, the Azores Christmas Crafts Fair programme also includes workshops (Lapinha [sea-themed nativity scene] and Corn Leaf Nativity scene, among others) as well as musical performances by top Azorean musicians and "Tea Time" tasting moments.

The main goal of this initiative is to enhance the visibility of Azorean craft businesses by showcasing their craft products, particularly those certified with the collective brand of origin and quality "Azorean Handicrafts."

In this context, the Azores Christmas Crafts Fair, which closes the handicrafts fairs associated to the Region's summer festivities, is a unique opportunity for bringing the public and artisans closer. It also promotes the exhibition and sale of traditional and innovative products, which are the result of ancestral techniques and contemporary aesthetics and concepts.
