"Birth Plus" Programme in force from today - Communication

The Vice-Presidency of the Government informs that it is now possible to apply for birth support amounting to 1,500 Euros, under the "Birth Plus" Programme, for the purchase of products in any pharmacy of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The application period is set at three months from the date of the child's birth or adoption by filling in a form at the Institute for Social Security of the Azores or via the link https://app.seg-social.pt/issa/plataforma/.

All children born or adopted in 2022, before the publication of the ordinance regulating the Programme, may also benefit from this support, provided that the respective application is submitted within three months of the entry into force of the ordinance. 

Eligible Children are also required to reside in the twelve municipalities that register a population decline above 5% between 2011 and 2021: Nordeste, Povoação, Vila Franca do Campo, Praia da Vitória, Santa Cruz da Graciosa, Calheta, Velas, Lajes do Pico, São Roque do Pico, Lajes das Flores, Santa Cruz das Flores and Vila do Corvo.

This support will be available for the purchase of health and well-being products, such as feeding products and accessories, pacifiers, milk, baby cereal, hygiene and moisturising products, creams or medicinal syrups; vaccines not included in the National Vaccination Plan; non-prescription medicines and prescription medicines.

Once the application is approved, beneficiaries of the Programme may go to the pharmacy of their choice and purchase the said products.

The support will be available within one year from the date of notice of its allocation.

This year, the "Birth Plus" Programme, which will operate in an experimental format, has a budget of 1.2 million Euros to support its implementation.
